Fleet Admiral Jewell started the Nederland Robotics Club along with a few other parents and mentors in

2004 (for the 2005 competition). Scott Jewell is still our leading mechanical and electrical engineering mentor. He

is also an entrepreneur and knows his way around networking technology and issues, which was extremely

useful since our new robot operating systems used Wi-Fi instead of proprietary radios of past seasons.

Fleet Admiral Jewell has only missed one year with us, when he was in Hawaii. He has been dedicated to

this program more than anybody else and is always on the lookout for some piece of equipment or building

materials that can be used for the next build season. Without his efforts this program probably would not

exist and we are grateful to him for being here.
